The geniuses over at Adaptive Tactical have now given us a way to convert our base model Mossberg 12 gauge shot guns into amazing tactical style shot guns.
Who doesn’t love taking something you already own and adding parts or accessories to make it even cooler? I’m pretty sure that’s a human desire with everything we own. Well you can now fulfill that desire for your shot gun via Adaptive Tacticals Venom Sidewinder Kit.

This kit features the elite Wraptor for-end. Specifically developed for use with pump action shotguns, an integrated/patented heat shield with threaded inserts for mounting an optional kelly grip, and a patented ‘sight tunnel’ which allows the operator to rapidly locate the sights and acquire targets. It also includes an adjustable M4-style stock with pistol grip. They also have a 10 drum or a 5 round box magazine sold separately.
We’re we’re lucky enough to get a kit with a 10 rnd box magazine and the 10 rnd drum also. And oh man we were excited to get this kit installed.
The Venom kit will fit various models of Mossberg shot guns. You do need to make sure to order the right kit for your model as they vary slightly in size and design. Some adjustments and sanding on your gun are needed to make the kit fit properly. The kit does come with emery cloth to assist in that part of the installation.
Once we got the kit installed and everything moving smoothly it was time to play. And man playing with this kit is fun. You are able to cycle through a ten round drum or box magazine pretty quickly with this kit installed.
The kit includes 3 mountable picatinny rails on the side and top of the unit enabling you to mount all sorts of goodies to your gun. Sights, flashlights, lasers or whatever you want it can be mounted to the rails.
Adaptive advertises that the kit offers reliable feeding of rounds and I’d say they advertised correctly. I never had any hangup with feeding or jams. We put a lot of rounds through this setup. And it continually worked great for us.
The M4 style adjustable stock was great. It was nicely cushioned to absorb recoil and was quick and easy to adjust for different sized shooter arm lengths.
The sight tunnel works as mentioned, helping you to quickly acquire targets. Which, you definitely need in a tactical situation. I really enjoyed the functionality of the sight.
I definitely feel this kit is one, all tactical shotgun seekers should check out. It’s gobs of fun and its at home assembly make it a winner in my book.
