(Tooele, Utah) The Return of Cars and Coffee to the Utah Motorsports Campus on April 22nd lived up to the hype in more ways than one. Utah Motorsports Campus promised a large fun even with free entry to the public and the public got what they were promised. The previous Cars and Coffee was held at UMC in July of 2021. This year with the return of the event UMC added more events to the weekend. These events included NASA racing series on the east course and hot laps ride alongside on the west course. Also included were drift ride alongs in the west paddock, UTV racing on the offroad course, and public go kart rentals.
With the main event being the Cars and Coffee car show, there was most assuredly a large menagerie of vehicles to be viewed. We found some personal favorites in our stroll down the concourse of
vehicles.
UMC has really done well with the smaller local events in the last few years. The still bring in major racing events but in our opinion we’ve seen better fan participation with these localized events. I remember a few years back talking to John Gardner the former UMC Public Relations Manager. He informed me at the time that they were really pushing the State of Utah and Tooele County to build a freeway offramp off of I-80 with better and more direct access to the race track. Those efforts proved fruitful as they now have that exit and a direct shot from the freeway to the track.
I’ve always been a regular at this track since the days of Larry H Miller being the owner. And I’m glad to see the the folks at UMC keeping racing alive in Utah.
Events like these are opening up the race track to new people that have never experienced it before which is obviously key to keeping it successful.
If you haven’t been to Utah Motorsports Campus we highly recommend you pay them a visit. They have a full slate of racing events scheduled this year and you will definitely enjoy your time there.
